A Day In The Life of Bailey & Mason :
A Photojournalist Style Look at Family Life
If you know me, you know I’m not a “morning person.” There are few things I will happily wake up early for, and a photo session is one of them – especially A Day In The Life of Bailey & Mason
In my most recent Family Photojournalist style session (which I call A Day In The Life) with Mason and Bailey – I was dead set on spending the whole day with them, so I woke up early to be there as the kids were waking up. They barely seemed to care I was there with them which was great for me! I got to be a fly on the wall for their normal everyday routine.
Mom busily prepared a great breakfast and in true kid fashion – it was eaten on the floor with toys and their adorable pup awaiting a piece of bacon. I could tell Mason was the little muse of the family – He followed his older sister around as Mom worked to get her prepared for school. Bailey was bright-eyed and bushy tailed on her way to school and while she was doing her learning, Mason was a big help at the grocery store and got to go to the Jump house with Mom and I.
After we picked up Bailey from school – it was over to Grandpa’s for Lunch, as is their daily routine (Which I totally adored!) Mason helped make the dumplings while Bailey colored in an old Chinese newspaper. I laughed so hard as Mason devoured his lunch. His face scrunched and contorted as he tried to fit entire dumplings into his little mouth all at once while in contrast Bailey quietly ate her rice. After we were done with lunch, I followed the kids around as they settled into playing in the garage together.
You never knew an average garage could be full of so much adventure. They danced and cartwheeled their way towards nap time and when asked they both happily jumped into the back of Mom’s car to drive across the street. During nap time I sat quietly as I heard doors creaking open and little feet tip toeing around the house. I took the opportunity to capture photographic evidence of the nap time escapes. I got a true “deer in the headlights” look as my camera caught them both red handed.
After nap time finally concluded, a terrible rainstorm struck and we were stranded inside. Both Bailey and Mason didn’t mind in the least – after they woke up they were cuddly and content to snuggle up with Mom on the couch. Bailey made me laugh as she slowly put herself into weird positions on the floor that seemed unnatural but she made look so very comfortable. Finally as I waited for a gap in the rain so I could leave – Mason happily helped Mom fill up a jar of honey for me to take home as a gift.
All in all it was great day that I very much enjoyed photographing. It was truly a day-in-the-life of Bailey and Mason which was full of joy, family and love.
